Last day-can't wait to see you tomorrow!

Kendahl and Kate apologize in advance for this relatively uneventful post. We were all incredibly intimidated to go to a traditional Southern church service today... But everyone's fears turned out to be silly.

We had a lot of eating to do today. We went to a fantastic buffet after the church service, where everyone ae twice their body weight in chicken and mashed potatoes. When we were all full to the point of explosion, Kate showed everyone at her table the digestion dance, complete with jazz hands, while everyone else watched and felt left out.

After the buffet, everyone was allowed to choose what they wanted to do on their last day in Tennessee. Most of us chose to go into town to a book werehouse, which had an entire section for "wounded books" in the basement. Others went with Mr. Clark on a nature hike. The rest stayed and hung out at the cabin and played clue, forced AJ to watch "Ten Things I Hate About You", etc.

In the evening everyone was involved in making various preparations for leaving such as eating/dosposing of all the remainging food in the house.

Everyone would agree that the most entertaining part of the day was when Ms. Corts ordered all the children to descend upon the nearly ten containers of assorted remainging ice cream like ravenous wolves. After the feeding frenzy, we were ordered to run seven laps round the cabin to burn off the sugar and get to bed in a timely manner. The running ddn't happen, but the ice cream was delicious!

Belated Saturday! [awkward. turtle.]

Our apologies for the belated-ness of this Saturday blog - We didn't get home until after midnight last night, and we were all way too pooped to blog, so we went to bed... to make a long story much shorter than it really was.

Anyway. We weren't scheduled to be at the amphitheater until 2:00, so we spent the morning relaxing at the cabins. The theater was having an all-day kickoff event for their Passion Play, featuring various Christian performing groups. We helped them out with what they needed before and during the event, and helped them clean up afterwards. We also got to enjoy most of the acts that were there. There were dancing groups, several bands, and karaoke. And us. When we arrived, the karaoke van pulled in and we kicked the afternoon off with some singing! The APUSH class sang "We Didn't Start the Fire" with much muttering, making up of words, and sarcastic facial expressions from Mr. Clark. Then the whole group sang "Build Me Up Buttercup" and "Bohemian Rhapsody." They gave us necklaces every time we sang, and Anna Carey ended up with about 7356. AJ also received multitudes of beads for his Cupid Shuffle skillz. (That z was on purpose.)

After the karaoke madness, we had a quick run-through of our skit before the long night of mayhem began. We then were blessed with 50,000 performances from a lovely Hebrew dancing group. Then we were treated to a preview of the Passion Play, featuring the healing of the blind man by Jesus, and a lovely solo from the now-un-blind man. Then we performed our skit - The Parable of the Sower. Fantastic.

Following our revolutionary interpretation of said parable (Fantastic!), there were several Christian bands and praise-dancing groups. There was much praising, singing, dancing, waving of various banners and flags, and outrageous costumes throughout the program. Speaking of programs, the physical paper bulletin-like work of art that served as the program for the program, was made by Chris.

Moving right along, the entire extravaganza lasted until midnightish. A good time was had by all, and we stayed afterward to help the theater clean up and put things away in their proper places of dwelling. They were ever so grateful to us. It was a blast working with them this week!

By the time we got home, we were all nearly unconscious. Quite literally, in some cases. Lauren actually fell asleep after a week of mad insomnia. Some of us were energized with nutritious snacks of popcorn and ice cream and orange juice. But most of us just crashed. Snoozed. Fell asleep. Hit the hay. Turned out the lights and said our prayers. Nos dormiamos. (There is a high chance that although we are upper-level Spanish students, that is incorrect grammar. Oh well! Que Lastima!) Hence, the story of Saturday endeth here, ye good parenty-folk! And friends. Of Katelin. PEACE AND LOVE TO YOU ALL. Good night, and good luck!

A Horrible Poem by Anna C. and Tabetha K.

This is a bad poem written by us two lovely ladies that reflects on this wonderful day in Tennessee.

Light shineth o'er the mountains
Glimmering like a shiny fountain
Waking to such smiling faces
We ventured forth to the kitchen places

Awaiting our arrival
Were omelets for our survival
Onward we traveled
To the theater with mysteries to be unraveled

We set ourselves to work
For lunch we did not eat pork
But bathrooms, sheds, and stages we cleaned
While a cart was maked and not cleaned

A break was enjoyed at the water hole
While lunch was eaten whole
We took a dip in the water so cool
Splish splash, splish splash

Following this merry making
We took a short siesta
Not a time for baking
But sleeping where we wished to resta

On couches
On porch swings
On a kitchen window seat
We slept

From there we returned to our laborous chores
Most of it was not a bore
Taby and I got to know the bathrooms well
Do not fear for she is here as well

The cart was finished
The bathrooms done
The play rehearsed
All was fun

The cars were loaded
The grocery store commondeered (not exactly)
The chicken coated
12 cartons of OJ per every man with a beard (which would only be one of us)

Now we bid you all adieu
Goodbye to you and you and you
Tomorrow brings a new sunlight
We hope this blog delighted you

Blessings to all of you who love us so dearly. Grow in GRACE.

Hello, sorry about the lateness of this post, but we had some computer problems. We are up and running now.
Ok, we got to sleep in today, which was nice for a change. So we hung around the cabin for a while. After a wile we started cooking breakfast; we ended up eating pancakes. After cleaning the kitchen we put together our lunches for the day.
We went out to Cades Cove during the afternoon, where we saw a lot of things. We saw two log cabins, which where kind of neat. After that we went to the visitor center and saw and old mill, where they were grinding up wheat into fresh flour. Also at the visitors center we went around the gift shop looking at various souvenirs.
After our escapade to Cades cove we made our way back to the theater. Where we did a variety of jobs. We where building all sorts of things, from carts to adding greenery to the set. People where also helping with various other jobs. On a side note the director called Mr. Clark a student, which was fairly entertaining. He was also innocently fixing a toilet paper holder when the girls decided to turn on the shower while he was in there… he got mad.
We finished our work at the theater, and went back to the cabins for dinner. We had spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. We all washed up and some of us threw in a load of laundry to help us get through the rest of the week.
Today seemed a lot longer than the other days, I think because we did more things. But overall today went well.

Annie and Katelin's convo of the Day.

Katelin: So Annie, what did u think of today? Since it was our first day of working at the theater and all.
Annie: Well Katelin, I never want to see another stadium chair again. Too bad, considering we have to wash about two hundred more. We must have cleaned three hundred today. Oh well. We still had fun.
Katelin: Yes we did! We cleaned out the costume room and the HUGE barn thing with all the props and set in it. The snakes and spiders were not too bad. I actually never saw a snake. I felt bad for the guys who had to clean the bathroom. Eek!
Annie: Cleaning the bathroom was crazy. Kendall, Chelsea, and Lauren managed to splatter paint themselves instead of the floor. But good thing Clark was on top of the paint remover.
Katelin: Yeah no kidding. The lady (Teresa) was really nice. It was so kind of her to bring us sweet tea and cups of ice on the SCORCHINGLY hot day that it was. Being outside all day was intense.
Annie: The dust is overwhelming! Apparently everyone else could hear you, Linnea, Lissa, Corts, and I singing Be Our Guest at the top of our lungs while sweeping the storage space which beats our scene shop on so many levels.
Katelin: Yes partly because it actually had LEVELS! It was so funny when they all came down to the storage space to mock us for our wonderful singing skills. Wicked was definitely a fun musical to sing while cleaning. Dont you think?
Annie: Phenomenal. After boiling in the sun and a quick stop for grocceries, we went swimming in the extremely cold river. Terhaar had to go under the bridge to touch a big rock, and Kate found a slime ball which she named Henry.
Katelin: Oh Matthew Terharr and Kate. What funny human beings. I thought that A.J. skipping rocks was so cool! He was so good at it! He tried to teach me but it didn't work out so well. What did you find when you went off with Terhaar and Bill when you went exploring down the river?
Annie: Actually it was up the river and we rode the current back which was incredible! I'll confess, I am addicted to seeking big rocks as well, so we went towards a large rock with much mud and falling.
Katelin: You seemed to handle it much more gracefully than Bill. :) Dinner was awesome tonight! Salad, cole slaw, cucumbers, baked beans, and hot dogs. Yum. How was the second trip to the grocery?
Annie: I've never been on a more insane trip. I think we bought out the store, filling two carts and buying Lauren her five dozen eggs. What did you do while we were gone?
Katelin: Well first we wrote in our journals which was very fun. Then we read the comments on the blog... Mark.... After that we got caught up in the most hilarious game of Apples to Apples that I have ever played. It got very intense at the end. The game came down to Linnea and Terhaar battleing it out to be the winner. And the winner was....TERHAAR? Oh sorry Linnea.
Annie: Wow! Terhaar? Now we're playing Imagine If and we are wondering what Clark would be if he got more exercise. The group chose disco aerobics!
Katelin: Wow! That is ah-mazing! I want to go play! What do you think, Annie? Call it a night and join the fun?
Annie: Yeah. We're definitely missing out informing you of our doings.
Katelin and Annie: Sorry guys, off to have more fun! Toodles!

We made it!

Yes, we are on the mountain and we are alive! This is Linnea and Lissa, for the first blog entry! Kate would like to tell her mother that there is indoor plumbing! We've had ourselves an interesting time, with lots of laughs and lots of crazy moments. One was this morning at the airport - all of us were gathered at door three, except Mr. Clark!! Don't worry, we found him lurking over by door one - where American Airlines actually is located. Additionally, when we arrived at the Atlanta airport, it was great to have Annie around, who could carry everyone's luggage despite her small stature. It was especiallly hilarious when she already grabbed Mr. Clark's baggage right under his nose, he was a little freaked that someone had stolen it, then turned around and realized Annie had placed it right next to him.

The mountains are the most beautiful things we've ever seen. As we drove from Atlanta to the cabins, we were surprised by how small these "mountains" were, they really looked like just small rolling hills, then we turned a corner and magically we were transported to the majestic and astounding forested Smokie Mountains. Words and pictures simply cannot captivate how incredible it is here.

Once we made it up the terrifying and hilarious mountain road (Singing musical songs all the way in Ms. Corts' car and occasionally leaving Mr. Clark's car in the dust) Ms. Corts' parents were waiting for us with homemade soup and cornbread, a perfect warm welcome! We've now settled out where everyone's sleeping and we're all relaxing and enjoying this lovely space.

We send our love to Mom (Kim), Mom (Janet), Dad (Tom), Dad (Michael), Cyrie, Viola, Iris, and Wesley.

Much love from all of us,

Linnea and Lissa
